STCA Meeting Notes September 12, 2017

Meeting called to order at 7pm

Observed Minute of Silence for our troops and those devastated by recent hurricanes

Sheriff Lopinto, our new Interim Sheriff for Jefferson Parish, introduced himself.

  • Locally raised-married-six year old twins. 
  • Attended Brother Martin-Police Academy-Law School
  • Lopinto Law Firm. As a lawyer he represented police officers
  • Legislator in LA-Chief Deputy
  • Newell Norman called him back to replace him-Newell got an opportunity with WWL

Crime has never been better- lowest since 1974

 

Joshua Wingrove from Jefferson Parish spoke on crime statistics

Very good at this time-crime is down

Residents asked about the massage parlors and homeless under the Causeway Bridge. Both were addressed. 

Lts. Cartier & Taranto are our Human Relations Officers

Citizens Academy is September 28, 2017 from 6-8pm.  All are invited to attend.

We have an aging sewerage system

Night Out Against Crime  October 17, 2017

Trees are coming to the neutral ground on Jefferson Highway this winter!

Councilman Paul Johnson donated $50K to plant trees and Jefferson Parish donated $50K.

Additionally our STCA Welcome to the Neighborhood signs were donated and installed by Paul Johnson’s team. Thank you to our Councilman!

River Road may be an assisted living being built?

Lisa spoke about possible reforestation of our area

Requested anyone who had history of our neighborhood to please share

Jefferson Parish lift station-smelly

Train noise

Planting certain trees between the sidewalk and the street they become Parish property so check before you plant

Pit bulls on Central Ave-there will be no signs

Newman by Magnolia School new park the Parish cannot put no parking signs on that one spot they would have to put them from River Road to the middle of the block

Call police to report cars blocking driveways

50/50 raffle draw
