President’s Report
November 2019
It is my favorite time of the year. The cool fronts are pushing through every few days and there is a crispness in the air. My favorite part of the holiday season is the time we get to spend with the most important people in the world, our family and friends. It is a pleasure to live in a neighborhood that has a great turn out for Halloween. My children and grandchildren come home every year to trick or treat in the neighborhood. It is exciting every time the doorbell rings and there are so many littles one bursting in harmony. “ Trick or Treat” they shout. Thanks to all the wonderful, kind neighbors for making our Halloween so welcoming to all. Thanksgiving is only several weeks away with Christmas hot on its heels and before you know it we will be ringing in the New Year. Things will get quit hectic so please remember to take some deep breathes and slow down. If some things don’t get finished it won’t be the end of the world. Many Blessings to all of our neighbors.
Neighborhood News
On November 16, 2019 we will have more decisions to make which will affect our neighborhood and Jefferson Parish. We will elect our new Councilman for ( District 2), our Governor and other races are to be decided. Please take the time to vote.
Night Out Against Crime was a Great success. We served over 250 Hotdogs and Chile. Everyone loved the snowball cart and our band was great. We appreciated all the members of JPSO for coming out. There strong presence represents the incredible support they give to us everyday. It was great fun to have Sheriff Lopinto with us and we appreciated the time he spend visiting with our members. JPSO continues to give us encouraging news about our low crime rates in Old Jefferson. Please keep up the great work we do by reporting any suspicious activities and/or suspicious persons.

November 2019 Meeting
It is time for FIRE SAFETY. We are fortunate to have John Done, Fire District Chief, with Jefferson Parish Fire Department speak to us. John has 31 years of service experience and we commend him for everyday of his service. John has been a member of Suburban Terrace Civic Association since 1992. He is very familiar with our area and the age of many of our homes. He will give us important information on how to spot problems hopefully before they become a fire issue. We have had several fires in our area over the past couple of years and we need to all be aware of potential dangers.
Deano Bonano and Micheal O’Brien will also join us for their last words before this important election on November 16. This will give you the opportunity to ask questions about important issues.
We are having a turkey raffle. In the spirit of giving, Kim Catalano Realestate, has Donated 10 Turkeys for the giveaway. She hopes this will brighten up your Thanksgiving and remind us all that this is the season to give from the heart.
Our November 12, 2019 meeting will take place at Jefferson Playground Room 2 above the gym (4100 South Drive). The doors will open at 6:30 pm and the meeting will start promptly at 7:00 pm. We appreciate any and all desserts provided by members and thank you in advance for your contributions.
